Wisteria on Display in Downtown Tokyo

I Visited Kameido Tenjin Shrine to see the Wisteria Festival. Having glamorous red drum bridges, its beautiful garden attracts many people throughout the year. Two famous ukiyoe artists were among those fascinated by this garden; Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. It is exciting to imagine being in the same place that Hiroshige painted!

Most drum bridges in shrine garden were designed to approach to the main hall. Bridge embodies the path to deities or to heaven. As we cross the bridge, our spirit is purified.

I expected such a heavenly garden with full of purple wisteria, but even though it was a weekday, there were full of people and flowers were getting to wilt due to the recent hot weather. After COVID 19, this spring is crazy to see many people are flocking to tourism hot spots in Tokyo. There are also many plum trees, I’m sure to visit here again next spring.
